Srinagar, July 18: “J&K government should ensure appropriate Muharram arrangements, besides ensuring the supply of essentials, uninterrupted electricity, transport and medical facilities during the auspicious period. The Muharram processions should also be allowed this year, as that will be the veneration to religious sentiments and people’s emotions in the true sense,” said senior Congress leader Irfan Naqib on Tuesday.
Interacting with a local delegation from the Zadibal area of Srinagar, Naqib said, “Although the government will take measures to ensure arrangement, there should be equal facilities in every area and district of J&K to ensure that people don’t face any inconvenience and perform their religious duties hassle-free.”
Commenting on the auspicious period of Muharram and the arrangements to be made, the Congress leader said the arrangements, especially uninterrupted supply of electricity, ration medical facilities, and transport should be made available 24×7 to ensure hassle-free conduct of Muharram rituals without any inconvenience.
Naqib invited the attention of the government towards Muharram processions and urged that necessary permission should be granted to avoid any kind of confrontation during this auspicious period. “Muharram procession should be allowed this year after making necessary arrangements, as that will be the veneration to religious sentiments and peoples’ emotions,” he added.
