Kupwara, Nov 20: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani Sunday said the party feels duty bound to serve and represent people’s  urges and aspirations at every appropriate forum and will  continue its fight against policies detrimental to the interests of  people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKPCC chief was addressing a daylong party workers convention at Cheepora in Lolab area of Kupwara district.
Senior PCC and DCC (Kupwara) leaders were present in the convention who accorded a rousing ovation to Vikar Rasool Wani on his first visit to Kupwara after taking over as JKPCC President.
Addressing party workers convention, JKPCC President expressed confidence that Congress Party is strong in J&K even in far flung areas like Kupwara and elsewhere the party is vibrant in functioning despite the challenges.
He urged the workers not to leave any opportunity to serve people in their respective areas, as that, it is the Congress party alone which has always represented and served people equally, without any discrimination.
On the occasion, Wani slammed the BJP government at Centre for “disappointing people of Jammu & Kashmir on every front.”
He said the BJP government is not doing justice to J&K by “abandoning the democratic rights in order to serve its political ends and enacting different stories to continue ruling J&K through remote control.”
JKPCC President laid emphasizes  over holding of elections after restoring  Statehood to J&K as assured by the Centre on the floor of the house and asked the BJP government to shun “confrontation path and adopt pro J&K policies to ensure that people come out of the morass and confusion created by it.”
“Mere tall claims over development and good governance which is nowhere to be seen won’t address the concerns of common people of J&K, who are feeling isolated in absence of a popular government. Elections are the need of the time, which has to happen shortly in the interest of the people of J&K.”
Addressing the convention Senior Congress Leader Ghulam Nabi Monga (Ex.MLC) and Mohammad Anwar Bhat told the party workers that they should rise to the occasion to highlight the people’s issues for their resolution.
“People are facing hardships on every front, but they are being ignored by the government especially rising unemployment, basic facilities like power and local area developmental issues.”
Ghulam Nabi Monga also censured both Centre and J&J government for “failing to curb unemployment menace and addressing developmental issues and demanded that Centre should come out with a special employment package for Youth to ensure that they live a dignified life and also demanded developmental package for J&K.”
Senior Congress Leader Nazir Ahmad Lone also addressed the convention and assured JKPCC President that he will work very hard to revamp the party further in the district.
Earlier JKPCC President was also given rousing ovation by party workers led by Irshad Ahmad Ganie, Javed Ahmad Mir, Shabroz Hassan(DDC Candidate), Ghulam Hassan Dar and various other leaders at Drugmulla Chowk Kupwara.
Those who were present and addressed the convention included Gulsher Khan, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Khan, Firdous Ahmad Wani, Block President and Senior Party workers of Kupwara District Congress Committee.
