Jammu, Jan 20: In a concerted effort to ensure a secure and incident-free Republic Day celebration in the Jammu Zone, a high-level security review meeting was convened at the Police Headquarters in Jammu.
Chaired by the Director General of Police J&K, R.R Swain, and Lt. General Navin Sachdeva, GOC 16 Corps, the meeting brought together senior officers from the Army, Police, CAPFs, and sister agencies.
The primary focus of the meeting was to assess challenges and formulate counter measures to guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for the upcoming national event. Detailed discussions took place regarding the strategic placement of personnel at crucial locations to facilitate incident-free celebrations, with an emphasis on proactive security arrangements at every venue across the Jammu region.
Participants stressed the importance of strengthening human intelligence and leveraging technology to enhance security measures. The meeting highlighted the need for engaging religious leaders to maintain peace and stability, with specific directives to anticipate and counter possible subversive acts.
The officers underscored the significance of monitoring social media platforms to combat misinformation, and strict actions were urged against users disseminating concocted, anti-social, and anti-national content. Special attention was given to preventing any attempts to disturb communal harmony.
Addressing the gathering, DGP J&K R.R Swain emphasised the necessity of maintaining the highest level of alertness to thwart any terror or law & order incidents. He called for a proactive approach, strengthening intelligence and border grids, and implementing innovative district-level plans to foil the adversary’s intentions.
The meeting also focused on the continuous threats from across the border, emphasising the need for functional synergy between forces, planned joint area domination, special checkpoints, and revisiting anti-terror/anti-infiltration security grids. Security of vital installations and religious places was a key topic of discussion.
DGP R.R Swain directed officers to increase the physical movement of leadership in their respective jurisdictions to ensure the security of vulnerable places. Assessments from different forces, including the Army, CAPFs, Police, and Intelligence agencies, were presented in detail regarding various challenges anticipated on Republic Day.
The meeting saw the attendance of key officials, including ADGP Armed SJM Gillani, GOC 26 Div. Major General Gaurav Gautam, and ADGP Railways J&K Sunil Kumar, ADGP CID J&K Nitish Kumar, IGP BSF Jammu, Dinesh Kumar Boora, IGP Hqrs PHQ Shri B. S Tuti, IGP Armed/IRP J&K M N Tiwari, DIG BSF (Ops) Brig. Vikrant Nayar, BGS 16 Corps Arvind Chouhan, DIG JSK Range Shakti Pathak, DIG CRPF Jammu Ramesh Kumar, DIG SSB Shri Sudhir Verma, DIG Armed Jammu Nisha Nathyal, SSP Jammu, AIsG of PHQ, AIG CISF Anoop Sinha, SP Ops Jammu and gazetted officers of different forces attended the meeting in person.
