NEW DELHI, NOV 13: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Vice President (VP) Jagdeep Dhankhar at the Vice-President’s Enclave in New Delhi today.
The meeting was confirmed through a post on Vice President Dhankhar’s official account on X (formerly Twitter), which read, “Shri Omar Abdullah ji, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir called on Hon’ble Vice-President, Jagdeep Dhankhar at Vice-President’s Enclave today.”
The Chief Minister is in the National Capital for an official visit and is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the next two days. This visit underscores Jammu and Kashmir’s ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination with the central government.
Chief Minister Abdullah also participated in the Conference of Power Ministers of States & UTs on November 12, chaired by Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal Khattar. During the conference, he highlighted the challenges Jammu and Kashmir faces in harnessing its hydroelectric potential due to the Indus Water Treaty, which restricts water usage for run-of-the-river projects and prohibits water storage on key rivers like the Indus, Chenab, and Jhelum.
The Chief Minister, on Tuesday, engaged in all technical sessions of the conference, presenting Jammu and Kashmir’s concerns and perspectives to the national forum.
