Civil society members staged a candlelight vigil in Kulgam and Anantnag districts on Tuesday against the killing of a circus employee in Anantnag.
In Kulgam, civil society members took out a protest rally and strongly denounced the innocent killing of a Udhampur resident in Anantnag on Monday evening.
Similarly in Anantnag, a candlelight vigil with solidarity march was held by traders, transporters, social activists, civil society members and common people here at Lal Chowk Anantnag.
Hilal Ahmad Shah, MC Anantnag President said, “we stand in solidarity with the family in this hour of grief.” The candle march was held to denounce the innocent killings.
“We strongly condemn the innocent killing and such incidents shouldn’t happen here. We stand with the family and innocent killings have no space in this society,” he said.
Senior citizens, shopkeepers ,and members of trade associations in Kulgam also held peaceful protests in the main town of Kulgam against the killing of a civilian.
Notably, Deepu Kumar, a labour from Udhampur, who was working at a private circus mela at Amusement Park near Janglat Mandi in Anantnag was killed on Monday evening.
