Srinagar, Apr 29 : Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has executed proclamation proceedings against two absconding accused in a terror-linked case registered in 1995, officials said.
The action was carried out under Section 82 of the CrPC in connection with FIR No. 04/1995 registered at Police Station CIK, following orders from the court of the Principal Sessions Judge Kupwara, who is also designated as Special Judge under the NIA Act.
The accused have been identified as Mutwali Poswal, a resident of Kanihehak Batpora in Kupwara, and Ghulam Rasool Shah, also known as Rafie Rasool, a resident of Chandigam in Sogam area of Lolab in the district.
Officials said both accused were evading arrest and avoiding legal proceedings during the course of the investigation.
Based on the material placed before it, the court initiated proclamation proceedings and directed the accused to appear within a stipulated time frame.
In compliance with the court’s directions, CIK teams executed the proclamation at the residences of the accused in their respective localities in Kupwara district.
The accused have been asked to surrender before the court within one month from the date of proclamation, failing which further legal action, including attachment of property under Section 83 of the CrPC, will be initiated, officials said.
They added that efforts are on to ensure the presence of absconding accused and complete the investigation in the case.(KNS)
