Srinagar, Dec 07: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday welcomed the decisions of the Central Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open a big cluster of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya in different parts of the country as an “epoch-making decision” to strengthen the education system at the grassroots level.
“The landmark cabinet decisions reflected the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the nation,” he said.
Chugh said the decision to open 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and expand the existing KV in Shivamogga, Karnataka, would go a long way in improving the access to quality education for the children of Central Government and Defence personnel.
“This step will not only benefit approximately 82,560 students but also create 5,388 direct permanent employment opportunities, with many more generated through construction and allied activities,” he said. “The Kendriya Vidyalayas have consistently set new benchmarks in quality education and are now pivotal in implementing the National Education Policy envisioned by the Prime Minister.”
Appreciating the government’s focus on inclusive education, the BJP leader welcomed the Cabinet’s approval to establish 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) in uncovered districts as a milestone towards bridging educational gaps in rural areas. These fully residential schools, he said, will provide top-tier education to 15,680 rural students, ensuring opportunities for talented children irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds. “This initiative will create 1,316 direct permanent jobs and drive local economic activities,” he said.
Chugh said that Navodaya Vidyalayas, known for their excellence in academics and holistic development, will continue to empower students from marginalized communities, including SC, ST, and OBC categories. He hailed the approval of the Rithala-Kundli corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV as a transformative move towards enhancing urban mobility and connectivity across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 26.46 km with 21 elevated stations, this corridor will ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and boost the regional economy.
With an investment of Rs 6,230 crore, the project underscores the government’s focus on modernizing infrastructure. Tarun Chugh said that Delhi Metro, a global benchmark in reliability and safety, remains the lifeline of the National Capital Region, catering to millions of commuters daily.
