Srinagar, Aug 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday hailed the Centre’s decision to create new districts in the Ladakh Union Territory as a “historic” and “path-breaking” step.
Chugh, who is the BJP’s in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, said, “On behalf of the people of Ladakh, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of this region. The announcement of the creation of five new districts: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, marks a significant milestone in our journey towards better governance and prosperity.”
This historic decision reflects the government’s dedication to bringing services and opportunities closer to the people of Ladakh, he said, adding that by establishing these new districts, the Modi government has ensured that the benefits of development reach every corner of this beautiful Ladakh region.
This move, Chugh said, will “undoubtedly” enhance administrative efficiency, improve infrastructure and provide greater access to essential services for all residents.
He said the BJP was confident that this step will pave the way for a brighter future for Ladakh, fostering economic growth, social development and cultural preservation. “The creation of these districts will not only strengthen local governance but also empower local communities to actively participate in the decision-making processes, he remarked.
Chugh said this initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of regional development and inclusivity, as seen in other recent projects across the country. “The establishment of these districts is a testament to the government’s commitment to balanced regional growth and the upliftment of all communities,” the BJP leader said.
