Srinagar, Jan 16: J&K Bank Football Club pocketed yet another silverware in domestic circuit after UT’s football heavyweight defeated J&K Police Football Club 4-1 in the summit clash to win the prestigious  18th Christmas Gold Cup 2024-25 played at Mini-Stadium Parade Ground in Jammu.

The latest victory is Bank’s fourth consecutive title triumph in one of the most sought after tournaments in J&K’s football calendar.
The much awaited title deciding match saw both teams battling out in the first 45 minutes with teams going into the break locked at 1-1 but the second half was all J&K Bank scoring three goals to make the trophy theirs and bringing joy to their fans.
It was Furqan Nabi who exhibited his striking prowess yet again scoring hattrick with J&K Police FC defence having no answers to Bank’s advances towards their opponents’ goalpost.
Furqan opened the account for his side before Salman Ahmad found the net to equalize the scoreline as both teams were not ready to concede an inch in what was a fiercely contested first half. The second half presented a different picture with J&K Bank coming out all guns blazing. Furqan was the enforcer again, scoring his and team’s second goal before star performer Akif Reshi joined the party to double Bank’s lead to have the scoreline reading 3-1. Furqan wasn’t done though, completing his hattrick to make it 4-1, headlining Bank’s title winning performance and taking home man of the match award.
Commenting upon the Bank’s remarkable success, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee said, “This title winning performance  by the Bank’s Football Club is a source of immense pride for all of us. The team’s relentless dedication, discipline and passion have brought glory not only to the Bank but also to the entire region. As a Bank, we remain committed to nourishing excellence in sports also while providing a platform for the talented to shine.”
“This victory exemplifies the indomitable spirit of the club and their commitment to achieving excellence. On this joyous occasion, I congratulate the players, coaches and management for their outstanding performance and maintaining the benchmark of excellence once again”, he added.
Head J&K Bank Sports Board Tabassum Nazir and Vice Chairman Syed Shujaat Andrabi congratulated the team for winning yet another title and reiterated Bank’s commitment to bolster the sports landscape in the UT by providing aspiring footballers platform and facilities to excel on the bigger stage.
