Chitra, Sarla in North Zone squad for BCCI’s maiden Multi-Day Tournament

Jammu, Mar 13: For their consistent performances at the domestic circuit, promising batting all-rounder Chitra Singh Jamwal and ambidextrous bowling all-rounder Salra Devi have been picked in the North Zone squad for the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI’s) maiden Senior Women’s Multi-Day Tournament, which is commencing at Pune from April 3, 2024.
Another bowling all-rounder and J&K skipper Sandhya Sayal has also been picked in the stand-by list for this tournament.
Chitra has produced stellar performances in Senior Women’s One-Day and T20 Trophies, besides U-23 One-Day Tournament. She has scored 327 runs in Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, 298 runs in Women’s U-23 One-Day Trophy and 148 runs in Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, besides taking 8, 9 and 5 wickets in these tournaments respectively. She also took 2 wickets for North Zone in the Inter-Zonal One-Day Tournament.
Sarla took 12 wickets in Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy and 7 wickets in Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, besides taking 2 wickets for North Zone in Inter-Zonal One-Day Trophy. Sarla has the distinction of representing the North Zone teams already six times and this is the 7th time she will be representing the North Zone squad.
To pick the North Zone squad for this prestigious and the first of its kind tournament, the meeting of  North Zone Selection Committee was held at Sultanpur Cricket Ground Gurgaon, Haryana on March 12, 2024.
The Selection Committee members included Surender Mehta (HPCA), Anoop Sondhi (UTCA), Anjuman Bassi (PCA), Anjali Sharma (DDCA) Poonam Bharadwaj (HCA) and Surabhi Dadheechi (JKCA).
As per the reports, North Zone and South Zone teams have directly been placed in the semifinals and will be locking horns against the winners of the quarterfinals among North East, East, Central and West Zone teams.
Video Analyst Mujtaba Wani will also be part of the North Zone squad for this tournament as the member of Support Staff.
The Sub Committee members of JKCA including Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA, Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development JKCA and Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA have congratulated these cricketers for this landmark achievement.
Incharge Cricket Development JKCA Srinagar, Majid Dar has also congratulated the duo for this achievement.
