Acknowledging the reality of the two front threat, the Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has said that there is a high degree of collusivity between China and Pakistan. He made this statement while speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi. During an interactive session, the Army Chief spoke on a wide range of issues and answered a broad range of questions related to the national security and territorial integrity of India. He also underlined the issue of relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is pertinent to mention that after the forced regime change and dethronement of democratically elected Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh there has been complete mayhem and minorities have been subjected to the worst form of genocide under the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus. Security analysts have made it clear in the aftermath of the Bangladesh crisis that there is a complete intervention of China as far as its policy towards India is concerned. Not only that. After taking over the reins of power the interim government guided by religious radicalism moved very close to Pakistan. Top army commanders of Pakistan have been consistently meeting the Bangladeshi military junta and had earlier planned to arrange joint military exercises and training programs this year. He did not mince words in his veiled reference to Pakistan terming it as the epicentre of terrorism. He expressed his concern that the terrorism being patronised there can adopt new routes from the emerging areas of conflict. The reason being the growing proximity between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Though he has expressed satisfaction over the military to military relationship and called it strong between Indian and Bangladesh, the Army Chief said that it was too early to take call on the role of Bangladesh in terms of disturbing peace as the notes are being exchanged on a regular basis. He was hopeful that change in the government there may bring in the relationship. His categorical statement about the China –Pakistan collusivity and its acceptance is very significant as it is nearly hundred per cent on the virtual field and he made it clear that on the physical front that most of the equipment there is of Chinese origin. It must be remembered that the former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane too had said that the threat of China-Pakistan collusivity cannot be wished away in January 2021. He expressed satisfaction about the favorability of terrain in the Himalayas for India. The Army Chief has rightly said that what matters at the end of the day is the ability to amass the resource application, strength and the impact, when it comes to military superiority. And assured that the Indian Army is adequately poised to take care of that. Stressing the need for peace, he said that there is a need for co-existence, co-operation and co-ordination and opined that it was not good for the countries to engage in war. He clearly said that war is not in the interest of the two nations and we are trying to harmonise till a diplomatic situation comes out. One thing is clear that the Indian Army is keeping a close watch on the borders and the stratagems of the adversary from across the borders. Now the time has come to devise a comprehensive military doctrine to defeat the two front threat. It is not confined there as this two front threat can escalate two front war if the threat is not nipped in the bud. Moreover, the theatres of war have shifted from conventional war to asymmetrical war. Enemy is making every effort to turn this two front threat into two and a half front threat by including in it the internal subversives who are acting from within the subversive formation in India. Thus the two and half front threat has to be stopped from graduating into two and a half front war to safeguard the territorial integrity and sovereignty of India.
