Srinagar, Dec 23: The Children Hospital Srinagar, an associated hospital of GMC Srinagar, is without the attendant shelter causing inconvenience to the patients and attendants visiting the only full-fledged pediatric hospital in the valley.
The 500-bedded Children’s Hospital situated at Bemina is the largest Govt. children’s hospital of the valley and patients all across the valley are admitted in the hospital.
Attendants said the hospital, which was shifted from GB Pant Hospital in September last year, is in dire need of attendant shelter that would ease the stay of people.
“These days the attendants coming with their patients face tough times, especially these days. The government has spent crores on the hospitals but it has no sarai,” said Javid, Ahmad, an attendant from Budgam.
He said that the GMC Srinagar should take note of the issue and take measures for the construction of attendant sarai.
The attendants with the patients face accommodation problems therefore the Govt. has decided to fulfilll a long pending demand of the citizens. It is the only full-fledged paediatric hospital in Kashmir Division.
Officials at the hospital informed that they have requested for administrative approval about the construction of the attendant shelter building.
“Administrative approval for this project and subsequent release of necessary funds to the concerned agency may be expeditiously executed in the larger interest of patient care and seamless functioning of the hospital operations,” revealed an official document addressed to Principal GMC Srinagar.
Notably, the hospital has also sent the Preliminary Project Report (PPR) to the medical college as received from the Chief Engineer PW (R&B) Central, Kashmir.
Doctors at the hospital also opine that the Hajj House Bemina which is located nearby could be used as a shelter for attendants till the sarai is constructed.
“The Hajj house remains free for most of the time throughout the year could be used for the shelter until permanent shelter is constructed. The Hajj house is used for the assembly of Hajj Pilgrims for some weeks only. The space should be incorporated for the hospital,” they said.
