Charukesh slams thunderous ton as Kupwara KR, Dream XI, KRSNA XI register wins

Jammu, Feb 15: Charukesh Zutshi slammed a cracking century, while Chander Mohan scored strikeful 80 and Ankur Bagati produced a splendid all-round show to help KRSNA XI, Dream XI and Kupwara Knight Riders to convincing victories in the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL) Edition-4, being organised by Lalitaditya Sports, Education and Health Organisation at KC Sports Club here on Thursday.
In the match played yesterday evening, Kupwara Knight Riders thrashed Punchmukhi Cricket Club by a big margin of 94 runs.
Batting first, Kupwara Knight Riders scored 181 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Sanidhya Kaul top scored with brisk 64 runs off 51 balls, studded with 7 fours and one six, while Ankur Bagati contributed power-packed 44 runs off 27 balls with 5 fours and one six.
For Panchmukhi Cricket Club, Rinku Koul took 3 wickets by conceding 40 runs in his 4 overs.
In reply, Panchmukhi Cricket Club bundled out for 87 runs in 17.1 overs. Rinku Koul played a sedate innings of 22 runs off 39 balls with 3 boundaries. None of the other batters could show much application to score runs.
Ankur Bagati was the wrecker-in-chief for Kupwara Knight Riders, who captured 4 wickets by conceding just 6 runs in his 3.1 overs, while Rohit Raina bagged 2 wickets.
For his splendid all-round display, Ankur Bagati was declared as the man of the match.
In the first match played today, Dream XI defeated BNCC by 64 runs.
Batting first, Dream XI scored a big total of 199 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Chander Mohan who scored a brilliant century the other day, again scored magnificent 80 runs off 52 balls, studded with 8 fours and 5 sixes, while Rahul Mussa contributed 34 runs off 33 balls with 5 boundaries.
Sandeep Dhar took 3 wickets by conceding 31 runs in his 4 overs.
In reply, BNCC scored 135 runs in 19.2 overs to lose the match by 64 runs.
Akshay Pandita top scored with 52 runs off 38 balls studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Bhumesh Bhat contributed 43 runs off 33 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
For Dream XI, A Bakshi bagged 3 wickets by conceding 6 runs in 2.2 overs, while Sumit claimed 2 wickets.
Chander Mohan was declared as the man of the match for his superb batting display.
In yet another match, KRSNA XI defeated Punchmukhi Cricket Club by a huge margin of 149 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, KRSNA XI scored a big total of 239 runs in 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process.
Charukesh Zutshi slammed a cracking ton, scoring 107 runs off just 50 balls, smashing 17 fours and 4 sixes, while Rahul Pandita contributed 93 runs off 52 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes.
Ramesh and Sanju took 2 wickets each for Punchmukhi Cricket Club.
In reply, Punchmukhi Cricket Club bundled out for 90 runs to lose the match by a big margin.
Amit Tickoo top scored with 22 runs off 15 balls with 5 fours.
Swapnil Bhat bagged 3 wickets for KRSNA XI, while Charukesh claimed 2 wickets.
For his superb ton and 2 wickets, Charukesh Zutshi was adjudged as the man of the match.
GCOE, Jammu organises Intra-college Men, Women Badminton Championship
Jammu, Feb 15: Department of Physical Education and Sports, Government College of Education, Jammu organised a one-day Intra mural Badminton competition for Men and Women on College campus, on Thursday.
The competition aimed to promote competitive spirit among students. The program started with the welcome address by Prof. Ramandeep Kralia, HOD, Physical Education.
Dr. Zubair, Dean, School of Teacher Education, Cluster University of Jammu was the chief guest, Prof. Satish Sharma, In-charge Principal GCOE, Jammu was the Guest of Honour Dr. Rajinder Kour, Coordinator B.Ed-M.Ed was the Special Guest. Around 80 students participated in the event.
The event was organized in two phases. In the first phase, the women’s team exhibited remarkable prowess, with Kavita emerging as the winner, showcasing outstanding skills and determination. Following closely behind, Rumla Khan secured the runner-up position.
Transitioning to the second phase, the boys’ team delivered an exhilarating display of athleticism and skill. Akash Bhatt emerged as the ultimate victor, whereas Ajay Singh secured the runner-up position, reflecting outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to excellence. The whole event was organised by the students of Health and Physical Education, GCOE, Jammu under the supervision of Prof. Ramandeep Kralia. Ms. Shubharti, student of B.Ed. Sem 3 acted as the anchor for the event. The winners of the event are facilitated by trophy and medals whereas all the participating students received certificates of participation.
The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Rakesh Bharti. The faculty members who were present at the event are Dr. Shalini Rana, Dr. Balwan Singh, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Chanchal Singh, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan, Dr. Suraj Prakash, Prof. Roopa Kumari and Dr. Sonam Gandotra.
