Srinagar, Apr 24: Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri has been awarded the prestigious A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The big achievement was announced by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Executive Director, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, during a press conference at Chandigarh.
With this grade, CGC Jhanjeri has become one of the most prestigious and elite Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) in India. Established in 2012, Chandigarh Group of Colleges has become the first institute in the state of Punjab to be granted accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A+ grade in the first cycle itself. Dr. Anupam Deep Sharma, Registrar and Director Academics, CGC Jhanjeri; and Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Professor and Head Applied Sciences, CGC Jhanjeri were also present on the occasion.
While interacting with the media, CGC Jhanjeri Executive Director Dr. Neeraj Sharma said, “Chandigarh Group of Colleges has scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.46 on 4 point scale of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which has made it the first and only institute in Punjab to have achieved this remarkable ranking. It is the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty for 10 years that has resulted in the institute getting this recognition, which has endorsed our academic framework and policies being practiced since inception.”
Mentioning the unique practices being followed by the institute over the years that have led it to achieve this recognition, Dr. Neeraj Sharma said, “The institute has pioneered in offering new-age programs in emerging fields as well as traditional programs customized as per the changing requirements of the industry. More than 800 multi-national companies rolled out a total of 8500+ job offers to our students in 2022.”
CGC Jhanjeri has always laid a special emphasis on research on the campus, and features state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure including 50 Centres of Excellence and an annual research budget of Rs. 15 crores, owing to which, both students and faculty have been actively engaged in socially-relevant research and innovation, which has resulted in the filling of 2000+ patents and establishment of 75 start-ups within a short span of time, Dr. Neeraj said
In addition, Chandigarh Group of Colleges emphasizes sports and curricular activities on the campus to promote all-round development of the students and has won several tournaments over the years.
Explaining the accreditation process, CGC Jhanjeri Registrar and Director Academics Dr. Anupam Deep Sharma said the NAAC accreditation will open new avenues for the institute and its students.
