Budgam, Sept 01: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pandurang K Pole visited Budgam district today to inspect and review preparations for the upcoming Legislative Assembly Elections 2024. The visit involved a thorough assessment of key facilities and operational elements crucial for the smooth conduct of the elections.
During his visit, CEO Pole inspected the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), Control Room, Counting Centre, and Strong Rooms at the district headquarters. He emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to Election Commission guidelines and deadlines, including those related to the Model Code of Conduct.
In a meeting with stakeholders, Pole reviewed the arrangements for each of the five assembly segments in the district. He stressed the need for compliance with guidelines and encouraged efforts to maximize voter turnout through door-to-door campaigns under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.
Pole also directed the formation of booth-level committees and highlighted the importance of monitoring election expenditure. He urged the popularization of Election Commission of India (ECI) apps among the public and called for increased public engagement through SVEEP activities, including plantation drives, sanitation efforts, and distribution of voter slips.
Additionally, the CEO assessed various aspects of the election preparations, including administrative management of materials, transport, staff training, webcasting, and home voting facilities.
Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, AkshayLabroo, assured that all directives from the CEO would be implemented in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission of India.
