Anantnag, May 20: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag on Saturday issued a directive prohibiting government teachers from participating in teaching activities at private coaching centers.
The order came days after a teacher was suspended for allegedly teaching in a private coaching center in Anantnag for which a separate order by the Joint Director of School Education (South) was issued.
An official in the education department told Rising Kashmir that the order came in response to reports received by the CEO’s office, citing multiple instances of government teachers engaging in private practice, a violation of government regulations.
The CEO has also asked the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to obtain affidavits from the teachers in their control and restrict them from teaching in any private coaching center.
In an official order CEO Anantnag said, that, in continuation to this office circular instructions issued vide No: CEO/A/IMW/10590-782/23 Dated: 08.05.2023, a preliminary enquiry has been conducted regarding involvement of Government teaching personnel in coaching centers.
The report reveals that some teachers are involved in coaching centers which is a gross violation of Rule (10) of J&K Govt Employees Conduct Rules 1971.
“Accordingly, all the DDOs are enjoined to obtain an affidavit from the teaching personnel of his/her control to the effect that they shall not teach in private coaching centers henceforth,” the order while quoting CEO Anantnag reads.
The order further reads that in case any teaching official is found to be violating the Govt. orders/circular instructions and J&K Employees Conduct Rules 1971, necessary action shall follow against the erring officials.
