Centre sets-up tribunals to decide on ban on Muslim Conference factions

The Union Home Ministry on Monday constituted tribunals to adjudicate whether there is sufficient cause for declaring the Muslim Conference (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference (Bhat faction) as unlawful associations.

In a notification, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has set-up a tribunal headed by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, Judge, High Court of Delhi, for the purpose of adjudicating whether or not there is sufficient cause for banning Muslim Conference( Sumji faction).

It also constituted another tribunal headed by the same judge to adjudicate whether or not there is a sufficient cause for banning Muslim Conference (Bhat faction) as Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act-1967. Both factions of Muslim Conference were banned on February 28, 2024—(KNO)
