Jammu, Dec 13: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajiv Jasrotia on Friday said the Central government is paying focused attention towards Jammu and Kashmir to ensure equitable development besides welfare and prosperity of the people of this traumatised region.
The MLA, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was speaking after commissioning WSS worth Rs 8.61 cr at Hatli and Tridwan in the presence of prominent citizens including DDC and Sarpanches.
He said that after being given a chance to serve as a legislator by the public, he set a goal for himself to develop the neglected pockets of the Jasrota Assembly Segment. “My goal is to ensure that every habitation has access to all-weather roads, electricity and drinking water,” he said.
Underlining the Central government’s sustained attention to Jammu and Kashmir, Jasrotia said the Modi-led administration prioritises the comprehensive development of all regions, irrespective of urban or rural status. He highlighted the importance of infrastructure improvements, particularly in roads and sanitation, as essential components for enhancing the quality of life. “Roads facilitate the smooth supply of essential commodities, while good sanitation is vital for maintaining public health,” he said.
During his visit, the MLA interacted with local residents, attentively listening to their concerns and issues. He assured them that their grievances would be promptly addressed by liaising with the relevant authorities. Jasrotia urged the people to strengthen support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for equitable development across Jammu and Kashmir.
The newly commissioned WSS, he said, would alleviate water scarcity issues, particularly during the rainy season, fulfilling a longstanding demand from the area. “This is a civic improvement that will provide significant relief to the residents,” Jasrotia said, adding that the government is committed to enhancing infrastructure, including roads, lanes and drains.
Jasrotia invited locals to identify their developmental needs so that they could be prioritised for government action. “All pending projects, such as the macadamisation of inner roads and repairs to lanes and drains, would be completed in a phased manner, with a commitment to ensuring quality in all construction efforts,” he assured.
The MLA urged people to take advantage of various welfare schemes and programs implemented by both the Union Territory and Central governments.
