In a significant development, the Central Government has mandated an inquiry into the affairs of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The order, issued by the Director General Corporate Affairs (DGCoA) of the Government of India, directs the Registrar of Companies (ROC) Srinagar, Syed Haamid Bukhari, to conduct a thorough investigation into the company’s operations.
According to the notice signed by Dy ROC Syed Haamid Bukhari, the inquiry, authorized under section 206(4) of the Companies Act, 2013, requires the company to provide essential information and documents within 15 days.
The notice indicates a comprehensive examination, with the inquiry officer seeking documents and information dating back a decade. The company is instructed to furnish board meeting statements from the past 5-6 years, all bank and account statements, details of donations and funding sources, as well as the credentials of office bearers since 2010. Additionally, all minutes of meetings held during the past 7-8 years, particularly during annual meetings, are requested.
The company is further directed to serve the notice to all directors and key managerial personnel, with a stern caution regarding strict compliance. Failure to adhere to the directive may result in penalties under relevant sections of the Companies Act.
