Srinagar, Aug 09: The Sub Division Administration of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has officially banned the use of cell phones within schools and directed faculty members to keep their devices turned off during working hours.
In an official circular issued by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmed Lone, the directive has been communicated to the Heads of Educational Institutions, including Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, Middle Schools and Primary Schools within the Sub Division.
The circular mandates that all teaching staff must switch off their mobile phones during school hours to ensure an uninterrupted educational environment.
However, the circular allows Heads of Institutions (HOIs) to keep their mobile phones on for the purpose of receiving essential communications as needed.
The SDM warned that violators of this directive would face action under relevant laws. Additionally, the Zonal Education Officer of Tangdar, along with Cluster Heads, has been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with these regulations across all schools in the Sub Division.
