Kargil, Nov 11: In a recent inspection, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC, Kargil, visited the Eastern Portal of Zojila to assess the ongoing construction works of the Zojila Tunnel. The CEC was pleased to learn that the project is advancing rapidly, with 3.7 kms of head excavation completed at the Eastern Portal and 3.8 kms at the Western Portal. The overall length of the tunnel, a critical infrastructure initiative, is set to span 13.15 km.

Expressing satisfaction, the CEC commended the executing agency and workers for their unwavering commitment and hard work, acknowledging their pivotal role in realizing this long-awaited project for the people of Ladakh. He extended gratitude to Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, for his keen interest and hoped for the swift completion of the tunnel under his leadership.

Acknowledging the efforts of Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited and NIHDCL, the CEC Kargil conveyed appreciation for their contributions to the project. During the visit, he took a moment to meet with the workers of NIHDCL at the Eastern Portal, wishing them a Happy Diwali and urging them to persist in their efforts to complete the tunnel.
