CCI Welcomes announcement of holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday, thanks LG for the decision

Jammu, Sep 16: Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Jammu has overwhelming welcomed the decision of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s announcement of the decision declaring a Public Holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh on 23rd September.
In a statement, Arun Gupta, President CCI Jammu said that the Chamber welcomes the aforesaid decision as it was a long pending demand of the people of Jammu region. He said Maharaja Hari Singh was a great educationist, progressive thinker, social reformer and a towering man of ideas and ideals. He said that this will be a humble tribute to the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh who undoubtedly was a great reformer and visionary which is evident from the reforms brought by him during his tenure as the king of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chamber President said that it is a decision that needs to be celebrated by the people across cross sections of the society as their aspirations, sentiments and feelings linked with the great Maharaja have been duly addressed by the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration led by LG Manoj Sinha addressed. He expressed profound thanks and gratitude to the Lt Governor for the decision duly respecting the sentiments of Dogras.

Arun Gupta said that the Chamber also appreciates the relentless efforts made bythe Yuva Rajput Sabha for leading unabated agitation in this regard that has ultimately reached its logical conclusion.
