Gurez, July 27: The two-day Integrated Outreach and Communication Programme (ICOP) organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcadting, Government of India, Field Office, Srinagar, on the theme “9 Years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan, G20 and Mission LiFE” concluded on Thursday at Gurez.
The ICOP was organised with the aim to generate mass awareness regarding the achievements of the government during the last nine years and dissemination of information regarding Centrally Sponsored Schemes by the bureau to reach out to the far-flung, inaccessible and remote pockets of district Bandipora.
Judicial Magistrate Gurez, Shaista Nazir presided over the concluding day function. While delivering her address to the gathering, Nazir appreciated the role of CBC Srinagar in the efforts of awareness of welfare schemes of the Government of India. She urged the CBC that such programmes must be organised in other remote areas of Sub-Division Gurez.
SDPO Gurez Bashir Ahmad gave an overview of the legal aspects of drug abuse. He appealed to the people, especially the youth, to shun the use of drugs to maintain sound health. Musavir Ahmad from Health Department, Gurez spoke on the ill effects of drug abuse on health and different centrally sponsored schemes.
Besides others, Principal Government Degree College, Gurez Farooq Ahmad Mir attended the function. He said that this is the first such event held at Gurez and appreciated the role of CBC in spreading awareness in such a remote area.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Sikander Qureshi, Field Officer, CBC Field Office Srinagar. At the culmination of the valedictory event, a prize distribution ceremony was held and mementos were distributed among dignitaries by the chief guest.
