Srinagar, Oct 04: The Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has submitted a challan against a man accused of fraudulently selling state land to a woman in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
According to a statement issued by the Special Crime Wing (Crime Branch) Srinagar, a charge sheet for case FIR No. 06/2022 has been presented before the Court of Sub Judge Pattan. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ashraf Wani, son of Mohammad Munawar Wani and resident of Utikoo, Kawarhama Baramulla, is facing charges under section 420 and 511 of the RPC for allegedly selling state land to a customer in Baramulla.
The case came to light when the complainant reported to the Crime Branch Kashmir that on March 1, 2016, she had purchased a piece of land measuring 07 marlas under survey NO.666, plot No. 03 situated at Utikoo Tehsil Karhama Baramulla from Mohammad Ashraf Wani for Rs 2.10 lakhs, supported by a proper sale agreement.
However, when she applied for registration and revenue extracts, the revenue department refused, stating that the land in question is state land and cannot be legally sold or purchased.
Following this complaint, preliminary verification No. 06/2019 was initiated at Crime Branch Kashmir. During the investigation, it was revealed that the land under survey No. 666 in Estate Karhama is state land, and Mohammad Ashraf Wani had sold it to the complainant without any legal right or authority.
The investigation led to the registration of case FIR No. 6/2022 in Crime Branch Kashmir, and a thorough inquiry was launched. Statements were recorded from individuals familiar with the case, relevant records were obtained, and evidence was seized in accordance with the established procedures.
