Ganderbal, May 08: The two-week “Capacity Building Programme” for faculty members in Social Sciences, organised by the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) concluded here on Tuesday.
Addressing the participants, Head Department of Management Studies, and Chief Guest, Prof. Abdul Gani, shared five guarantees for fostering excellence in teaching and research. These guarantees included cultivating passion, continuous self-improvement, embracing opportunities, prioritizing teaching and research, and valuing the journey over the destination.
In his speech, Course Director, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nika, said the capacity building is a continuous process in view of changing educational panorama and we have to be fit for the circumstances to stay relevant. He said the role of teachers is now shifting to demonstration and inspiration.
Earlier, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Zargar, Assistant Prof. Department of Religious Studies, welcomed the guests and participants. The participants while giving their feedback expressed gratitude to the organisers for arranging a meaningful academic discourse. They opined that besides academic relevance particularly in the context of NEP-2020, Capacity Building programme has been a Confidence Building Programme and a platform for mutual understanding amidst diversity.
Presenting a report about the programme, Co-Course Director, Dr. Firdous Ahmad Sofal, said, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, CUKashmir is proactive in addressing the professional growth and training needs of its academic fraternity. He elaborated on the diverse range of topics covered during the programme, including Education 4.O, experimental research, virtual learning, statistical analysis, academic integrity and interdisciplinary research, Indian Knowledge System, personal and professional development etc.
Dr. Tahira Khatoon, Assistant Prof. Deptt of Politics and Governance conducted the proceedings and Dr. Suprita Suman proposed the vote of thanks.
