Shopian, Nov 24: The Cadet, Sub-Junior, and Junior Championship 2024-25 wrapped up today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian, marking the end of an exhilarating three-day event held from November 22 to 24. The championship saw the participation of 500 players from various districts, showcasing exceptional talent and competitive spirit.
DIG SKOR, Alok Avasthy, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, alongside Advocate Shabir Ahmad Kullay, MLA Shopian, Nitesh Kumar, 2IC CRPF, and Assistant Commander Shubham of the 14th Battalion, who attended as Guests of Honor.
Ganderbal District emerged as the overall winner, securing the championship trophy, followed by Pulwama in second place and Srinagar in third.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of World Champions Mir Arsalan Mehraj and Disha Pandith from Jammu and Kashmir by DIG Alok Avasthy for their remarkable achievements at the 4th World Sqay Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Their success served as an inspiration for the young participants.
Grandmaster of Sqay, Nazir Ahmad Mir, also addressed the gathering, motivating the players with his insights and emphasizing the importance of dedication and perseverance in the sport.
