Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said to have arrested burglary culprits within 12 hours after the incident was reported in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“In the early hours of March 22, 2024, the tranquility of Iqbal Market, Kupwara, was shattered as burglars targeted five shops, leaving a trail of broken locks and distress. Undeterred by the cowardly act, the Kupwara Police swiftly sprung into action,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

“Despite the darkness of the preceding night, the burglars’ attempts were countered with vigilance and undeterred dedication from our law enforcement. While they managed to abscond with a modest sum of 5000 INR from one shop, their nefarious plans were thwarted at the remaining establishments, thanks to the timely intervention of the Kupwara Police,” the statement said.

In a testament to their dedication and professionalism, the Kupwara Police, led by the diligent efforts of the DO Bazar Azhar Shakeel and the Station House Officer of Kupwara, diligently pursued every lead, leaving no stone unturned. Their relentless pursuit of justice bore fruit within a mere 12 hours as the culprits were swiftly apprehended, the statement reads.

The commendable actions of the Kupwara Police have not gone unnoticed. The people of Kupwara, along with the esteemed Market Association, extend their heartfelt appreciation for the exemplary efforts of our law enforcement.

Under the astute guidance of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarter Kupwara, the commitment to safeguarding our community has once again been reaffirmed, it said. “As we stand united against crime, let us reaffirm our collective resolve to uphold peace and security within our community,” police said—(KNO)
