Jammu, May 02: Apni Party president Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari has demanded a policy to revamp the transport industry in Jammu & Kashmir.
“Government should introduce a policy to revamp the transport industry which is facing a difficult time and it has compelled many to adopt alternative businesses,” he said. “Multiple taxes and other financial burdens like loans have overburdened the transporters. The government should frame a policy which should be transport friendly so that the transporters are not overburdened.”
Bukhari assured that Apni Party will stand with the transporters to address their issues.
According to an official statement issued here, dozens of transporters joined the Apni Party in the presence of Altaf Bukhari. The programme was organised by the provincial president, women wing, Jammu, Pavneet Kour here in the presence of other senior party leaders.
Those who joined Apni Party include President J&K Motor Transport Welfare Association, Mohinder Singh, prominent National Conference leader, Triath Singh along with dozens of supporters including Davinder Singh, Sandeep Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Manoj Kumar, Roshan Kumar, Yash Choudhary, Satyam Singh and others, the statement said. Welcoming the entrants into the party fold, Bukhari hoped that their joining would strengthen the party and resolve the issues of the transporters.
Referring to their concerns, he assured that their demands will be highlighted before the concerned authorities for early redressal while expressing concern over the pending unresolved issues of the transporters in J&K.
Prominent among those who were present include Senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Provincial President, Jammu, S. Manjit Singh, J&K Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi, Provincial President, Youth Wing, Jammu, Vipul Bali and others.
Meanwhile, Apni Party on Tuesday visited the residence of the bereaved family of Mohammad Amin Khan at HIG Colony Qamarwari Srinagar. Khan left for his heavenly abode on Tuesday in New Delhi after a brief spell of his illness. “The deceased had a close association with Mr. Bukhari, while his son Mudasir Amin is a youth leader of the party,” the statement said.
