Srinagar, Mar 22: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday urged the authorities to ensure that the daily wagers, consolidated and temporary employees of J&K Industries receive their wages—however nominal—regularly and are not threatened with disengagement.
“These poor workers have been serving Jammu and Kashmir Industries for the past 15 years, yet they continue to receive nominal wages and face the insecurity of their temporary jobs,” Bukhari said after a delegation from J&K Industries called on him at the party headquarters.
The delegation informed the Apni Party leader about their problems and concerns, the party said in a statement issued here. The delegation comprised daily wagers, and consolidated and temporary employees of J&K Industries, who have been engaged with the Corporation since 2010.
The delegation members, according to the statement, informed Bukhari that they have been working with the department for the past 15 years, receiving only nominal wages while facing constant job insecurity.”
“They stated that they serve in the Administration, Accounts, Sales, and Technical sections of the department and have gained substantial experience over the years. However, they are now not only being denied regular wages but also facing the threat of disengagement,” the press release further reads.
They requested that their wages be paid regularly without any form of harassment. Additionally, they urged that they be granted increments and all the rights entitled to them under the Factory Act of 1948, the Wages Act, and the Maternity Act.
The Apni Party Chief listened to the delegation members and assured them that he would take up the matter with the concerned officials at the highest level, urging them to ensure justice for these workers.
