Shopian, July 06: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb on Thursday urged the media to contribute to nation-building and bring positive changes in society. He asked the journalists to highlight the issues of public importance “more vibrantly and vigorously”.
In an interactive meeting with media persons of the district held at Mini-Secretariat Shopian, the DC said media has a significant role in helping the administration in the deliverance of transparent and accountable governance to the people.
The interaction programme was organised by District Information Centre, Shopian and media persons from various national and local media outlets participated in it. At the outset, the media persons from print, electronic and online media deliberated on various issues with the DC.
The DC said the district administration is always available and accessible for coordination with all stakeholders especially media who are directly or indirectly engaged in promoting positivity and highlighting developmental issues. He said the media is the bridge between the people and government and it is the responsibility of the media to inform and educate people on public issues with integrity.
The media fraternity expressed their appreciation for the engagement and extended their cooperation in all government endeavors. Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Bodha, District Information Officer, Showkat Hussain Ganie, Officers and Officials of Information Department were present in the programme.
