J&K Students Association here tuesday said that authorities in Punjab have identified two people who were involved in thrashing of Kashmiri truck driver Sahil Iqbal at toll plaza Mukerian in Hosharpura Punjab. In a statement National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami said that, we had up matter with Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and urged him to personally look into the matter and take cognizance of such gory incident happened and end sufferings like this with Kashmiri people in Punjab.
Association urged him to book and take strict action against and get the culprits arrested at the earliest. Sandhwan assured all help and directed concerned authorities to take action against culprits. So far both the accused have been identified and arrested. An FIR under section 173/2022 of IPC has been registered in this regard. The matter is being dealt as per the law, Khuehami said while quoting DSP Mukerian Kulwinder Virk.
Khuehami said that the issue has been resolved with the immediate intervention of Punjab Assembly speaker. He ensured that action will be taken against those found in intimidating students or labourers from Kashmir Valley. There is no such issue related to the beating of Kashmiri truck driver on the basis of being Kashmiri, he said.
He thanked Punjab Assembly Speaker and MLA Kultar Singh for promt response and appreciated his immediate efforts and quick action.
