Srinagar, Feb 03: As Srinagar city witnessed snowfall on Saturday, the Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Owais Ahmed, has issued a directive, ensuring both manpower and machinery are prepared to tackle any weather conditions.
As per the Commissioner SMC, the proactive measure is aimed at effectively addressing and managing the challenges presented by the impending snowfall, with a focus on mitigating potential impacts on the citizens of Srinagar.
Stressing the importance of readiness and swift action, the directive aims to maintain essential services and uphold public safety during this period of inclement weather.
Assuring the general public, the Commissioner, SMC, states that all necessary steps are being taken to minimize disruptions and facilitate a prompt and effective response to any snow-related eventualities.
The SMC appeals to residents of Srinagar City to exercise caution and cooperate with authorities to ensure the city continues to function smoothly.
A specific plea is made against parking vehicles on roads, lanes, bylanes, and footpaths, as it hampers the snow clearance process throughout the city.
It is collective responsibility to facilitate the efforts of the SMC in keeping the city accessible and safe, the SMC commissioner stated.
For further information and emergencies, the SMC has also issued phone numbers and urged people to contact them at the given number in case any emergency arises.
The Commissioner has stated that all these measures are being taken to provide hassle-free movement to the citizens. He stated that the corporation is committed to providing all the facilities to people residing in the city.
