Srinagar, June 25: The Book “Beyond the White Coat (Journey of a Medical Student)” by Umar Ashraf Bhat was unveiled during a function on Sunday at SKIE Coaching Institute Parraypora Srinagar.
The book release function was attended by esteemed guests, including dignitaries from the education and healthcare sectors, including Mohammad Rafi, the former Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr. Roshan Ara, HOD Women Studies at Kashmir University, and Dr. Riaz Ahmad, a paediatrician specialist at SKIIMS, who gave remarkable speeches and addressed the immense difficulties encountered by medical students.
They appreciated the efforts of Umar Ashraf in bringing an insightful and valuable contribution to the field.
They said it is a topic that can provide valuable information, guidance, and inspiration to aspiring medical students, as well as offer a glimpse into the challenges, triumphs, and personal growth.
Speakers said that the book is engaging, informative, and relatable, resonating with their own experiences or those of others in the medical field.
“It’s commendable when an author can shed light on the realities of the medical education process, including the rigorous training, the emotional and intellectual demands, and the various stages of growth and development that students undergo,” they said.
Author of the book, Umar Ashraf told Rising Kashmir that the aim of Bhat’s book is to raise awareness of the struggles, obstacles, and sacrifices faced by medical students throughout their journey towards becoming healthcare professionals.
“From the long hours of studying, sleepless nights to intense competition and self-doubt, the book provides an honest exploration of the challenges faced by the protagonist,” he said.
Umar said this book is more than just a story of hardship and perseverance. It emphasizes the power of passion and recognizes one’s abilities as well.
” It also focuses on the importance of mentorship and the support of loved ones in surviving the challenging environment of medical education,” he said.
The book launch ceremony concluded with an atmosphere of appreciation for the author’s insightful work and finally with his speech, where he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his mentors and especially Sadam Sir for his unwavering guidance and support throughout the journey.
