Srinagar, Dec 29: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the party’s J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Sunday accused the Omar Abdullah-led government of slow response to the ongoing snow crisis in the valley.
In a statement here, Thakur claimed the government failed to clear link roads promptly and fully restore essential services such as power and water, leaving residents to suffer in freezing conditions.
“While main roads were being prioritised, interior roads and link roads in rural areas and also in Srinagar remain buried under heavy snow, cutting off vital access for many communities,” he said, adding, “The government has shown complete disregard for the plight of common people, who are left stranded without proper connectivity.”
Highlighting the power outages and disrupted water supply across the valley, Thakur termed the government’s efforts inadequate. “People are shivering in darkness in many parts and struggling to secure basic necessities like water and yet the administration has not acted decisively to address these issues,” he said.
The BJP leader urged the government to ramp up snow-clearing operations and expedite the restoration of essential services. He called for accountability, saying the residents deserve better preparedness and responsiveness from the government in times of crisis.
