Anantnag, Sept 11: President of the Indian National Congress (INC), Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the BJP government for leaving one lakh jobs vacant in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that this inaction is intended to keep the region’s population impoverished.
Speaking at a rally in Anantnag on Wednesday, Kharge promised that a Congress-led government would address these vacancies.
Kharge, who was joined by National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, stated, “If the Congress comes to power, we will fill all these vacancies and provide much-needed employment opportunities for the youth.”
The Congress President also assured that the NC-Congress alliance would work to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and re-establish the Upper Houses of the Assembly. He dismissed concerns about the BJP government at the Centre obstructing these plans, asserting,
“If anyone asks how we will achieve this when there is a BJP government at the Centre, my answer is simple: we will do it when the people of J&K are with us. The BJP will be powerless to stop us,” Kharge said. He reiterated that there are one lakh job vacancies, and Congress will fill these positions, providing employment opportunities for the youth.
Kharge accused the current government of deliberately neglecting the establishment of new factories and manufacturing units, further exacerbating unemployment. He criticized the failure to fill existing government positions, saying, “People need to unite and bring NC and Congress to power. If elected, we will focus on tourism, manufacturing, job creation, and reopening the 4,400 schools that have been shut down.”
The Congress leader also alleged corruption within the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, which he claims is controlled by the Central Government. “All sorts of vices, including rampant drug and alcohol abuse, are taking root in J&K. We will put an end to this,” Kharge declared.
Referencing former J&K Governor Satyapal Malik’s corruption allegations, Kharge criticized the government for allegedly raiding Malik’s house instead of investigating the claims. “Instead of addressing corruption, government agencies raid the homes of those who speak out. The real culprits remain free while truth-tellers are targeted,” Kharge concluded.
