The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to meet on August 25 to decide party candidates for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
The meeting will be held at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
The Election Commission has issued notification for the first phase of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Polling will be held on 24 seats on September 18. The Union Territory will go for election in three phases.
The elections to the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana will be held on October 1. Votes will be counted in J-K and Haryana on October 4.
Meanwhile, BJP held a two-day brainstorming session in Gurugram to finalize its candidates for the Haryana polls.
Sources said discussions were held on potential candidates for all 90 assembly seats.
The BJP’s Haryana unit is learnt to have prepared a list of over 300 candidates for the assembly. This list will be presented before the Central Election Committee. Some constituencies have two or three names while a few have up to five names. (ANI)
