Srinagar, July 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest all the seats in the forthcoming assembly election and form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, the party’s Organisational Secretary Ashok Koul said on Monday.
“The BJP will contest the upcoming assembly election and will perform well in all segments including in Kashmir Valley,” Koul told media persons in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
He projected that the party would secure over 50 seats in the assembly elections and establish the government in J&K. “The BJP will form the government in Jammu and Kashmir after the elections. Those who claim otherwise cannot deny our assertion,” he said.
Ashok urged party cadres to prepare for the upcoming assembly polls and to engage with the common masses by sharing the growth and development achievements under the BJP government.
Koul also addressed the recent increase in terror attacks in the Jammu region, saying Pakistan was escalating its efforts to destabilise the region. He criticized the neighbouring country for sending trained ex-army personnel to target Indian security forces.
“We have confidence in the capabilities of the Indian Army, Police and other security agencies to effectively counter these threats and prevent further infiltration attempts,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP organised a party convention at Dawar Gurez, which was presided over by Ashok Koul. The event saw the participation of BJP National Executive Member & Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, former legislator Faqir Mohammad Khan, and DDC representative Aijaz Khan. Functionaries from all morchas of the party also took part in the convention.
In his address to the gathering, Ashok Koul highlighted the transformative vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he said has significantly impacted every part of India, especially Jammu & Kashmir. “J&K has entered a new era of peace and development after decades of turmoil, with the BJP’s development agenda being evident throughout the Union Territory,” he said. Koul elaborated on the positive transformations in various spheres of life under the BJP’s leadership, asserting J&K’s role as a growth engine for India.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, in her speech, spoke about the infrastructural advancements in remote areas like Gurez under the BJP rule and the accountability instilled in the government’s working system post the abrogation of Article 370. She pointed out that the tribal population of J&K has benefited from numerous central schemes and laws, which were not previously implemented by earlier governments.
Andrabi said the mainstreaming of J&K has led to the empowerment and prioritisation of development for the tribal communities. She noted that the youth in J&K are now aspiring for bigger achievements in a peaceful environment, contributing exceptionally at national and international levels.
