Jammu, Dec 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir is set to elect its new president early next year as the party’s organisational elections progress through various stages.
The election for the BJP’s top post in the region will take place over three days, from January 10 to January 12, 2025, following the completion of other organisational elections.
Munish Khajuria, Co-Incharge of BJP’s organisational elections, told Rising Kashmir that the elections for booth presidents, which began on December 25—the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee—are currently underway.
After completing the booth-level elections, the elections for Mandal Presidents will be held from December 31 to January 02. Subsequently, the District Presidents of J&K BJP will be elected from January 05 to January 07, 2025.
The process will culminate in the election of the new BJP President for Jammu and Kashmir from January 10 to January 12, reliable sources within the party said.
They further revealed that organisational changes are anticipated in the BJP unit of Jammu and Kashmir following the completion of these elections.
J&K has a total of 25,000 polling booths, and the BJP plans to activate 12,500 active members across the Union Territory. Initially, two active members will be elected from each polling booth, followed by the election of booth presidents for all 90 assembly segments of J&K. District Presidents will then be elected across all 20 districts, culminating in the election of the J&K BJP President.
This comprehensive organisational process is expected to strengthen the BJP’s grassroots structure in the region, party sources added.
