Srinagar, Mar 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is witnessing big progress in the Kashmir province, marked by growing support and successful consolidation efforts, the party’s General Secretary (Organisation) in J&K, Ashok Koul said on Wednesday.
He expressed satisfaction with the party’s recent achievements and outlined a promising future for the BJP in the region.
Speaking about the party’s progress during his visit to Anantnag, Koul highlighted the significance of securing 58,000 votes in the region.
“58,000 votes is a very big thing. We are strengthening the party, and we will continue to do so,” he said, underscoring the growing support for the BJP in Kashmir, traditionally dominated by regional and national parties.
Koul said the BJP’s progress was due to the efforts of senior leaders who played a crucial role in establishing the party’s presence in Kashmir.
Recalling the early days, he acknowledged that the BJP did not initially flourish as expected but credited the hard work of leaders like Akul Sahib for bringing people together and creating an environment where new leaders are emerging within the party.
He expressed clear optimism about the future, saying, “The BJP will become a big party in Kashmir. We are not content with the current progress; our work is not done yet. We will continue to strengthen the party.”
During his address, Koul also commented on the recent controversial fashion show event in the region, saying BJP is always against these types of vulgar shows. “We have never supported it. CM should answer how did it happen,” he said.
He questioned how the government allowed such an event to take place, saying the BJP does not support any mischievous activities. “Our Leader of Opposition (LOP) has raised concerns, and we believe that our Chief Minister has responded inappropriately to the matter,” Koul added. (KNS)
