Jammu, Sept 02: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has announced its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections, including six names, among them the party’s J&K UT President, Ravinder Raina.
The BJP has once again given the mandate to Raina to contest from Nowshera. Raina previously won the Nowshera constituency by defeating Congress Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma in the last Assembly elections held nearly a decade ago.
Sources indicate that Raina’s name was also considered for the Gandhi Nagar constituency. However, the BJP high command decided to retain him in Nowshera for the forthcoming polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prior to the official announcement, Raina had already commenced his campaign in Nowshera and addressed a sizable public meeting in the area.
With this announcement, the BJP has now declared a total of 51 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
The release of this list marks a significant step in the BJP’s preparation for the elections, as the party finalizes its lineup of candidates.
Fourth list includes:
Aijaz Hussain contesting from Lal Chowk
Arif Raja from Edigah
Ali Mohammad Mir vying for the Khansahib seat
Zahid Hussain contesting from Chrar-e-Sharief
Ravinder Raina representing Nowshera
Vibodh Gupta contesting from Rajouri, his home constituency.
