Jammu, Sept 09: In a move aimed at placating disgruntled senior leaders following ticket distribution, the BJP high command on Monday appointed these leaders to critical roles to prevent internal discord from affecting the party’s prospects in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
BJP National President JP Nadda announced the appointments, with Sat Sharma being named as the Acting President of the J&K unit. Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh was appointed to lead the Election Campaign Committee, while Chaudhary Sukhnandan was designated as the Vice President of the same committee.
Kavinder Gupta has been tasked with heading the Provincial Election Management Committee. It is noteworthy that Dr. Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta, and former cabinet minister Sat Sharma were all denied tickets by the BJP for these Assembly elections.
These strategic appointments are seen as an effort by the BJP leadership to ensure that any dissatisfaction within the party does not translate into a broader rebellion, which could potentially harm the party’s chances in the critical J&K elections.
