• Dr Nirmal Singh says upcoming polls no ordinary elections
• Thanks J&K people for overwhelming participation in LS polls
Srinagar, Sept 16: Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party’s Manifesto Committee and former deputy chief minister, Dr Nirmal Singh on Monday said the party has pledged to provide five lakh jobs within the first 180 days of coming to power.
Addressing a press conference here, Singh said, “The BJP is committed to creating 500,000 jobs within the first 180 days of coming into power. The plan includes providing 400,000 positions in the private sector and 100,000 in the government sector.”
Flanked by BJP National Spokesperson Shazia Ilmi, former MLC Surinder Ambardar, Media Incharge Kashmir Sajid Yousuf Shah, he assured of giving concessions to the UPSC and PSC aspirants vis-a-vis their tuition fees while preparing for the exams.
He said the upcoming elections are no ordinary given the huge participation of people in the process in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
“These elections are a success of India and its constitution. The neighbouring country Pakistan had been making efforts to subdue the process in Jammu & Kashmir. Due gratitude goes to people of J&K for their overwhelming participation in the (election) process,” he said, adding, “PM Modi has a vision for Jammu & Kashmir, especially for the youngsters and this time around he is here to form a government.”
About the party’s election manifesto titled ‘Sankalp Yatra’, the former deputy CM said the BJP is committed to ending thirty years of violence and seventy years of separatism.
He said Article 370 contributed to over 50,000 deaths and immense suffering among the youth.
Dr Nirmal Singh further said there is untapped potential for Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism, water resources and landmass. “There is a scope for solar energy development as part of the manifesto’s goals,” he said, adding, “There is a need to rebuild Kashmir, past politics have only led to bloodshed. The recent changes in the recruitment process initiated by Prime Minister Modi, including the elimination of interviews for smaller jobs.”
Addressing recent issues in recruitment processes, the BJP leader assured that transparency would be restored as outlined in the manifesto.
We also have plans to grant each senior woman Rs 18,000 annually to support her family financially.
I urge the people, especially the youth, to support Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Naya Kashmir’ and his principles of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab Ka Vishwas, Sab Ka Prayash’, he said.
