Jammu, Jan 03: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has appointed Jairam Thakur and Rajeev Bhatia as Prabharis (election in-charges) for the upcoming election of party presidents in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh.
Jairam Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and currently the Leader of Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, has been assigned as Prabhari for Ladakh. Meanwhile, Rajeev Bhatia, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Haryana, will oversee the process in J&K.
The BJP National President, JP Nadda, has directed all 29 states and Union Territories (UTs), including J&K and Ladakh, to complete their ongoing organizational elections before January 15, 2025. This timeline ensures the party is prepared for the election of its National President.
Nadda has also instructed all states and UTs to finalize the election of National Executive members, an essential step before the National President’s election can proceed.
The election process for BJP district presidents in J&K and Ladakh is currently underway. The elections for the district presidents across all 22 districts of the two UTs began recently.
According to sources, the elections for district presidents in J&K and Ladakh are scheduled to take place from January 5 to January 7, 2025. Once this phase is completed, the election of new presidents for the BJP in J&K and Ladakh will be conducted from January 10 to January 12, 2025.
The organizational election process will culminate with the election of state and UT presidents, along with the National Executive members. Only after these elections are completed can the BJP proceed with the election of its National President.
