New Delhi, Aug 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Front is set to launch the “Dr Kalam Startup Award” on Monday at 3:30 PM, coinciding with ‘International Youth Day’.
The event will be inaugurated from the BJP Headquarters in Delhi, with senior party leaders, including Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, expected to be in attendance, the Front said in a statement issued here.
It said the “Dr Kalam Startup Award” is aimed at recognising and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit among minority youth across the country. A total of 24,000 minority youths from various regions have submitted their nominations for the award, which was facilitated through social media until August 8th.
The award ceremonies will be held simultaneously in 14 states, with 7 outstanding minority youth from each state being selected for the “Dr Kalam Startup Award”. These individuals were shortlisted based on a rigorous scrutiny process conducted by the Central Investigation Committee.
The award function in Delhi will be inaugurated at the BJP Headquarters, where senior BJP leaders, including National General Secretary and National Incharge of Minority Front Dushyant Gautam, and the Chairman of the National Minority Commission, will be present.
Of the 900 nominees from Delhi-NCR, 50 have been shortlisted, and from these, 7 will be awarded the “Dr. Kalam Startup Award”, the Front said, adding that the event will be graced by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, BJP Organisation General Secretary B.L. Santosh, and other prominent BJP leaders, including National Minority Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura.
The announcement of the “Dr Kalam Startup Award” was made by BJP Minority Morcha National President Jamal Siddiqui on the 9th death anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on July 27. The initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda’s vision to empower minority youth.
The campaign, launched on Dr Kalam’s death anniversary, was marked by tributes paid to him across the country, including a significant event at his resting place in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Jamal Siddiqui, along with Dr Kalam’s family members, participated in the tribute, underscoring the impact and legacy of the former President.
