Srinagar, Oct 31: Devinder Singh Rana, Senior BJP leader and Member of Legislative Assembly Nagrota passed away late Thursday night in Faridabad hospital.
Rana (59) was prominent figure in both business and politics who founded Jamkash Vehicleades, a major Maruti car dealership in North India, and was also behind TakeOne TV in Jammu.
Rana began his political journey with the National Conference, where he became a close advisor to Omar Abdullah. He made a major impact by winning the Nagrota Assembly seat with the highest-ever margin, in a BJP stronghold.
Known for his efforts to unify Jammu’s communities, Rana supported the “Jammu Declaration,” which sought greater regional power and the restoration of statehood.
In October 2021, he joined the BJP, where he continued to advocate for Jammu’s interests and was expected to be named the party’s Legislative Leader in J&K.
Rana had been unwell in recent months. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
