• Modi govt destroyed future of youth, snatched our rights: Vikar
• Jammu suffered the most under BJP rule: Raman Bhalla
Jammu, Apr 16: All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader and Congress Star Campaigner Sachin Pilot on Tuesday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for politics of “vendetta and hatred” and said the saffron party had two MPs during Rajiv Gandhi’s time but the grand old party never raised the slogan of BJP-Mukt Bharat.
Addressing a large public meeting at Khour near Suchetgarh in support of INC Candidate Raman Bhalla, Pilot accused the BJP of undermining the democratic fabric of the country by selectively targeting opposition leaders while turning a blind eye to issues affecting the common people.
“While the BJP has collected huge amounts through illegal electoral bonds scheme, the bank accounts of Congress were seized before elections on filmy grounds and citing three-decades-old cases,” he said.
Pilot further criticised the BJP’s handling of sensitive issues, citing the unrest in Manipur and the prolonged absence of elections in Jammu & Kashmir. “Manipur is burning but the Modi government is not bothered. There have been no elections in J&K for years and the people are deprived of democracy. Now, the Supreme Court has issued directions for it,” he said.
He praised Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for reaching out to suffering people and advocating for their rights.
Pilot outlined Congress’s initiatives such as Nyay Pattar and various revolutions aimed at empowering youth, women, farmers, and workers. He underscored the party’s track record of championing people’s rights through landmark legislation such as the Right to Work (MGNREGA), Right to Food, Right to Education, and Right to Information.
Sachin said Congress has an inclusive approach while the BJP plays politics of division, he said.
Highlighting the Congress party’s contributions during difficult times, especially in Jammu and Kashmir during the peak of militancy, Pilot praised leaders who risked their lives to combat terrorism. The statement was in a veiled reference to his father Rajesh Pilot’s role during the peak of militancy in J&K.
Pilot praised the leadership qualities of Raman Bhalla and urged the people to vote for him, describing him as a dedicated representative of the people. He expressed confidence in the victory of the INDIA alliance in all six seats in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Congress leader was joined by JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani, AICC Secretary Manoj Yadav, Raman Bhalla, and other senior leaders and functionaries of the J&K Congress.
Vikar Rasool in his address criticised the BJP for neglecting the youth and worsening the state’s prospects. He condemned rising unemployment and inflation, accusing the BJP government of being anti-people and anti-youth.
Raman Bhalla echoed similar sentiments. He highlighted the challenges faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir under the Modi government’s policies. Bhalla called for rejecting the BJP and advocated for change to address the suffering of various segments of society.
