Jammu, Nov 24: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Thursday alleged that BJP is delaying restoration of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir by not holding assembly elections even after both Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police have termed the security scenario as normal.
Addressing a presser here, AAP’s state spokesperson Gagan Partap Singh said there has been no elected government in Jammu and Kashmir for the last four years.
He asked Bharatiya Janata Party and all other stakeholders including Election Commission of India to hold assembly elections immediately so that democracy can get restored.
“Union Home Minister had already stated about holding elections after delimitation and now even summary revision is about to end and this is the right time to announce polls,” he said.
Singh said, “We have always supported the earliest elections in Jammu and Kashmir so that democracy can get restored and a common man can have its own elected government.”
He accused BJP of delaying elections “as it is aware about its shrunken space and anger among masses.”
