BIS organises stakeholders’ conclave in association with FCS&CA Kashmir

  Srinagar, Sep 30: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), in collaboration with the department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Kashmir, Tuesday organised the Stakeholders’ Conclave as part of the upcoming World Standards Day (WSD) 2025 celebrations. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 300 stakeholders. A statement issued here said that Dr. Owais Ahmad , Director, FCS&CA Kashmir, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, emphasising the vital role of standards in daily life. He said:  “Standards are the backbone of quality, safety, and reliability, and their adoption is crucial for the welfare of consumers.” The conclave featured senior officials from the Directorate of FCS&CA, including Saheen Khan, Joint Director Mohd Rafeek, Deputy Director (Administration) and Arjumand Yaqub, Deputy Director (Supplies). Speaking at the event, Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS-JKBO, highlighted BIS’s role in fostering a culture of standardization: “BIS is committed to ensuring that consumers get quality products and services. Initiatives like this build trust between industry and consumers.” He also encouraged participants to use the BIS Care App to verify ISI-marked products and hallmarked jewellery. This year’s World Standards Day theme, “SDG-17: Partnerships for the Goals,” was emphasised throughout the conclave, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in strengthening quality infrastructure. The conclave was also attended by officers of the Food Safety Department and Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, who shared BIS outreach and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting consumer rights and safe practices.
