Bari Brahmna, Sept 25: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized an educational exposure visit for students from the Government Women Polytechnic College, Jammu to its laboratory at the BIS office in Bari Brahmna on Wednesday.
During the visit, Standard Promotion Consultant, Umar Mukhtar delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning of BIS, explaining its role in maintaining standards across various industries. He also provided insights into the process of gold hallmarking, emphasizing the importance of quality assurance in consumer protection.
The students also toured the BIS Referral Assay Laboratory (RAL) laboratory, where they observed various testing and quality control procedures firsthand, gaining practical insights into standardization practices.
The visit aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of standardization practices and their real-world applications.
