BIS JKBO organizes Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of Valves Industry

Jalandhar, Sept 20: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), successfully organized a two-day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel (QCPs) of Sluice Valves, Non-Return Valves and Butterfly Valves industry on 19-20 September 2024 at The Maya Hotel, Jalandhar. The program saw participation from technical personnel and QCPs from all major Valves industries in the Jalandhar region.
The event began with a welcome address by Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS JKBO. During his address he emphasized that the course is aimed at capacity building within the industry to enhance India’s quality ecosystem. He highlighted that the program would focus on various aspects such as product requirements, sampling methods, testing protocols, and effective use of BIS’s e-portal for managing ISI Mark licenses. Additionally, the session covered BIS Guidelines for the Conformity Assessment Schemes. Atri urged participants to make the most of this training to expand their knowledge and enhance testing capabilities.
Following the welcome address, Niraj Mishra, Deputy Director, BIS JKBO, delivered a detailed presentation on all types of valves, covering various aspects including quality control points during manufacturing, failure analysis of samples drawn during last 2 years and necessary actions to be taken for improving quality of products. He also elaborated on the requirements and test methods specified in Indian Standards for these valves.
During 2nd day of the training, participants visited JBS Laboratory, Jalandhar, a leading facility for product testing in the region. During the visit, practical testing of valves was demonstrated and testing methodologies were explained, giving participants practical exposure quality control measures.
Throughout the two-day course, participants engaged in discussions, sharing their own experiences related to the manufacturing and testing of sluice valves, non-return Valves and Butterfly valves. The initiative was widely appreciated, with participants expressing gratitude to BIS for organizing such a comprehensive training. They praised the program’s combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical demonstrations, which provided valuable insights into the valve industry.
